The City of Industry (sometimes just called “Industry”) is one of Southern California’s most unique areas. Incredibly, it has only 219 permanent residents as of the most recent census! Since 1957, the land use in Industry has been almost exclusively industrial and commercial.
Industry is an extremely popular area for investment by foreign businessmen, particularly the Chinese. Many major brands call Industry the city in which their main headquarters are located, and the city is even host to a McDonalds “set” that is only used for filming commercials.
The only residential areas in Industry are next to the area’s golf club; a tiny neighborhood adjacent to City Hall; and a nursing home facility with permanent residents. Everyone else simply commutes to and from Industry for business and pleasure.
